Aiono Dr. Alec Ekeroma New Vice Chancellor of NUS

(DS) Cabinet appoints Aiono Dr. Alec Ekeroma as new Vice Chancellor of the National University of Samoa.

The announcement was officially made today through a statement released by the Ministry of the Prime Minister and Cabinet.

The new appointment will see Aiono Dr. Alec Ekeroma under a 3-year contract in delivering the national institution’s mission and objectives.

He currently holds a PhD in Health Science from the University of Auckland, New Zealand, and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Health Administration from the Keele University in England. He’s also the Chief Editor of two Pacific Health journals – Pacific Journal of Reproductive Health and the Pacific Health Dialog.

Mr Ekeroma has been very much associated with the development of health in Samoa. He brings more than 20 years of experience as a Lecturer before his promotion as an Associate Professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the University of Auckland.

The founding Professor for the School of Medicine, playing a major part in establishing the medical school at the National University of Samoa. He was part of the team that put together the curriculum for the school of medicine.

He’s also established the Health Specialist Centre at Motootua; providing services using the latest medical equipment’s with local clinical excellence operating in a system linking to international experts. An official press conference for the Vice Chancellor will be held at the National University of Samoa tomorrow afternoon.
